HILLSBORO OHIO PICKLEBALL

Meet the Team

Founder & Administrative Coordinator
Rebecca O’Brien Sexton
Rebecca is the founder of the Hillsboro Pickleball Association and one of the original visionaries behind bringing pickleball to the community. What began in 2023 as an idea shared among a small group of dedicated players has grown into a thriving and connected local scene. With the support of the City of Hillsboro, she helped shape a space where people can gather, play, and enjoy something active together. Rebecca continues to be inspired by the steady growth of the community and the energy that forms when people come together on the court.

President
Jeff Truitt
Jeff was introduced to pickleball in April 2022, drawn in by its similarities to racquetball and the opportunity to stay active. What began as curiosity quickly became a meaningful part of his routine. As President, Jeff values creating a space where players can learn, compete, and enjoy the game in a well-supported environment. He especially enjoys watching the sport take root locally and seeing more people discover it each season. For Jeff, the game is as much about consistency as it is connection, and he brings a steady leadership style to both.

Vice President
Rhonda Crum
Rhonda serves as Vice President and brings a thoughtful, structured approach to supporting the organization. With a strong academic background, she offers a perspective that values clarity, organization, and intentional growth. She enjoys being part of something that brings people together in a positive and active way, while helping create a foundation that allows the community to continue evolving. Rhonda appreciates the connections formed on and off the court and brings a grounded, intentional presence to the team.

Secretary
Melanie Frye
Melanie has been playing pickleball for a few years and still enjoys the rhythm of each game, from soft dinks to long rallies. As Secretary, she keeps things organized behind the scenes so the group can stay focused on what matters most. She appreciates the balance of structure and fun that pickleball brings and enjoys being part of a community that continues to grow. She’s the one making sure nothing gets lost along the way, bringing care and consistency to the details.

Treasurer
Tim Hughes
Tim comes from a tennis background and has been part of the pickleball community for many years, playing more competitively in recent seasons. He enjoys creating opportunities for others to step into the game and have a positive experience, no matter their level. Tim finds the most fulfillment in helping newer players improve and in being part of something that brings people together in a meaningful and active way. He’s often just as invested in others’ progress as his own, bringing a supportive and encouraging presence to the courts.

Member at Large
David Allard
David grew up playing baseball and basketball and didn’t expect to connect with pickleball at first. After stepping in to play one day, that quickly changed. He now enjoys both the energy of the game and the atmosphere that surrounds it. David values time spent outdoors and appreciates being part of something that supports the community while helping others get involved. He’s always willing to jump in where needed, bringing a dependable and easygoing spirit to the group.
